Sheriff's Special News Release- Fatal Crash Victim Identified

The Green County Sheriff’s Office has released the identity of the passenger of a single vehicle fatal crash that occurred Friday morning, December 24th, 2021, in the W2300 block of CTH EE in Albany Township in rural Green County.  Santos Pascual Velasquez Lopez, age 44, of Janesville, WI, was pronounced deceased at the scene.  His name had been withheld pending notification of family.

Investigation revealed that the Red 1999 Ford Ranger pickup was traveling eastbound on CTHEE when the vehicle entered the gravel ditch on the southside of the road. The vehicle operator overcorrected and entered the north ditch where it traveled down a steep embankment into a field. The vehicle rolled before coming to rest on the vehicle's roof. Velasquez Lopez was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Green County Coroner’s Office.

The incident is being investigated by the Green County Sheriff’s Office and Green County Coroner.
