The following events occurred on May 5, 2024:

All person’s arrested or cited are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Motor Vehicle Crash-Property Damage:

At 10:25 a.m., Deputies responded to the N4600 block of County Highway J, in the Town of Monroe, for a motor vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by Horacio E. Munoz-Vergara, 24 of Barneveld, was traveling northbound when he reportedly swerved to avoid a vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound lane. Munoz-Vergara entered the ditch and collided with a culvert. Munoz-Vergara reported no injuries, was wearing his seatbelt, and the airbags deployed. The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.

Motor Vehicle Crash-Property Damage:

At 11:05 a.m., Deputies responded to the N4100 block of State Highway 69, in the Town of Monroe, for a two-vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that the two vehicles were northbound on State Highway 69 and were operated by Colleen K Benedict,45 of Clinton, IA, and Joanne A. Saunders,61 of Madison. Their vehicles collided as the attempted to pass another vehicle at the same time. No injuries were reported, they both were wearing seatbelts, and no airbags deployed. Both vehicles sustained functional damage and were driven from the scene.
