On Thursday, February 22 at 4:48 AM the Green County Sheriff’s Office – Communication Center received a call reporting a structure fire in the N1900 block of County Hwy OK, approximately 2 miles south east of Juda.
Juda Fire Department along with deputies responded to the scene. Upon arrival they located a single-family residence on fire. Juda Fire activated the Mutual Aide Box Alarm System (MABAS) requesting additional fire personnel. The following fire departments responded; Monroe Rural, Brodhead, Albany, Monticello, Davis (IL), Rock City (IL) and Orangeville (IL).
Both occupants of the residence were able to exit safely. One occupant was transported from the scene by Green County EMS for non-life-threatening injuries. There were no other injuries sustained.
The house is considered total loss and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
