All persons arrested or cited are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. 

The following incident occurred on Friday, August 18, 2023: 

Motor Vehicle Crash with Injury - 

At approximately 11:23 a.m. Deputies, The Monroe Police Department, Green County EMS and Monroe Rural FD responded to a single vehicle crash with injuries on State Highway 69 at County Highway P, Town of Clarno.  Jason T Steiner, 42, Browntown, was southbound when his truck first left the east side of the roadway and traveled in the grass for a distance before re-entering the highway and exiting the west side of the roadway. The truck traveled through the grass, struck an embankment, and went airborne over CTH P.  The truck struck the ground approximately 100 feet south of the intersection, struck the guy wires for the Alliant Utility pole, and came to rest in a field.

It was determined Jason lost consciousness while driving due to a medical issue. Jason was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained non-life threatening injuries.  There was airbag deployment and the truck sustained disabling damage. Jason was transported via ambulance. The truck was towed from the scene.

Jason was cited for Operator Failure to Wear Seatbelt, and No Motor Vehicle Insurance.  He was released with a court date.
