The following events occurred on July 16, 2023:
All person’s arrested or cited are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH-INJURY:
At 5:04 p.m., Deputies responded to the N6500 block of State Highway 69, in the Town of Mt Pleasant for a two- vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by Dale J. Voshell, 65 of Beloit was traveling northbound when a southbound vehicle attempted to make a left turn and pulled in front of Voshell. Voshell reported no injuries, his passenger reported non-life-threatening injuries. Voshell and his passenger were wearing their seatbelts and the airbags did not deploy. Voshell’s vehicle sustained functional damage and was driven from the scene.
The southbound vehicle was operated by Simon A. McCarthy, 20 of Highland. McCarthy reported no injuries, was wearing his seatbelt, and the airbags did not deploy. McCarthy’s vehicle sustained functional damage. Investigation resulted in McCarthy being cited for Operating Without a Valid License. McCarthy was released pending court.
OWI:
At 6:53 p.m., Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the N4700 block of State Highway 59, in the Town of Sylvester. Investigation resulted in the operator, Jose A. Tzanahua Zacarias, 37 of Evansville being arrested for Operating While Under the Influence (1st-Alcohol). Zacarias was further cited for Operating with a Prohibited Alcohol Concentration (Greater than .15), Operating Without A Valid License, and Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance. Zacarias was released to a responsible party pending court.
