2023 Sheriff's Department Press Releases Posted on March 14, 2023

All persons arrested or cited are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The following incidents occurred on Monday, March 13, 2023:

Motor Vehicle Crash with Injury – 

At 12:05 PM, Deputies, Browntown First Response, and Green County EMS responded to the N1100 Block of CTH M, Town of Cadiz, for a report of a one vehicle crash with injuries.

After a subsequent investigation, Deputies learned Gerald J. Lomas, 69 of Lena, IL, was northbound on CTH M when he lost consciousness.

Gerald crossed the roadway, entered the west ditch, and struck a creek bed and culvert. Gerald was wearing his seatbelt, his vehicle's airbag deployed, and he sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported for further evaluation. Gerald's vehicle sustained disabling damage to its front end and was towed from the scene.

Probation and Parole Arrest – 

At approximately 12:10 PM, Deputies responded to the Green County Probation and Parole Office and placed Travis J. Runke, 50 of Albany, under arrest on a Probation Hold. Travis was transported to the Green County Jail. 

Motor Vehicle Crash with Injury – 

At 4:00 PM, Deputies responded to the N5900 blk of STH 59, Mt. Pleasant Township, for a one vehicle accident with unknown injuries.

Investigation found that a vehicle operated by, Raymond E. Homme Jr, 18, of Monroe, was traveling south on STH 69.  Homme advised his vehicle had mechanical failure which caused him to lose control of the vehicle.  The vehicle traveled over an embankment and went airborne.  The vehicle then struck a power pole, fence and tree before coming to rest.

Homme advised he was wearing his seatbelt and sustained minor injury, but declined EMS.  There was airbag deployment in the vehicle.  The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.  

Homme was cited for operate with no insurance.  He was verbally warned for failure to maintain control.

Motor Vehicle Crash – 

At approximately 7:54 PM, Deputies and the Brodhead Police Department responded to the W900 block of Cottage Rd., in the Town of Decatur, for a report of a car vs tree accident with no injuries.  The driver Christopher J. Kings, 27 of Brodhead, reported he was not injured. Christopher was traveling west on Cottage Rd. when he lost control of his vehicle, entered the north ditch and struck a tree. The vehicle sustained disabling damage with airbag deployment.

Christopher reported wearing his seatbelt and declined medical attention. The vehicle was towed from the scene and Christopher was cited for Failure to Maintain Control of his vehicle.
