All persons arrested or cited are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The following incidents occurred on Tuesday, August 17, 2021:
Motor Vehicle Crash:
At approximately 3:56 p.m., Deputies, Green County EMS, and the Albany Fire Department, responded to the W3000 block of Oliver Rd in the Town of Mt Pleasant for a report of a single vehicle crash with injuries. Investigation revealed that Amanda J. Copus, 40, Pardeeville, WI, was operating a vehicle and traveling eastbound when she failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The vehicle then exited the roadway and entered the ditch. The vehicle then collided with a tree and came to a rest. The vehicle sustained disabling damage and the airbags deployed. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
Copus reported that she was not wearing her seatbelt and she sustained injuries in the crash. A passenger in the vehicle, Skylar G. Reynolds, 23, Columbus, WI, reported that she was not wearing her seatbelt and she sustained injuries in the crash. Both Copus and Reynolds were transported by EMS to the Monroe Clinic Emergency Room.
Copus was cited for Failure to Keep Vehicle under Control.
Motor Vehicle Crash:
At approximately 4:28 p.m., Deputies responded to the W6500 block of STH 11 in the Town of Monroe for a report of a two vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that Tracy L. Thostenson, 42, Brodhead, WI, was traveling westbound. Thostenson then entered a construction zone and came to a stop due to a construction crew working in the roadway. At this time, a vehicle traveling westbound behind Thostenson’s vehicle collided with the back of her vehicle. The second vehicle was found to be operated by Billie Jo Rae Rinabarger, 28, Fitchburg, WI.
Thostenson and her passenger both reported that they were not injured and that they were both wearing their seatbelts. Thostenson’s vehicle sustained functional damage and the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle was driven from the scene.
Rinabarger reported that she was not injured and that she was wearing her seatbelt. Rinabarger’s vehicle sustained functional damage and the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle was driven from the scene.
Rinabarger was cited for Inattentive Driving.
Motor Vehicle Crash:
At approximately 6:07 p.m., Deputies, Green County EMS, and the Monroe Rural Fire Department, responded to the W6900 block of STH 11 in the Town of Clarno for a report of a two vehicle crash with injuries. Investigation revealed that Andrew M. Gunn, 37, Beloit, WI, was operating a semi unit (a tractor hauling a trailer) and was traveling westbound. Gunn then entered a construction zone and came to a stop for construction workers, who were conducting traffic control. At this time, a westbound vehicle traveling behind Gunn’s semi unit, collided with the back of his trailer. The second vehicle was found to be operated by Kayla K. Keller, 23, South Wayne, WI.
Gunn reported that he was not injured and that he was wearing his seatbelt. Gunn’s trailer sustained damage. The airbags did not deploy in the tractor. Gunn later drove the semi unit from the scene.
Keller sustained injuries in the crash and was transported by EMS to the Monroe Clinic Emergency Room. Keller reported that she was wearing a seatbelt. Keller’s vehicle sustained disabling damage and the airbags deployed. Keller’s vehicle was towed from the scene.
The Wisconsin State Patrol responded to the scene and assisted Deputies with the crash investigation.
The Green County Highway Department assisted at the scene with traffic control.
Investigation resulted in Keller being cited for Inattentive Driving, Non Registration of an Auto, and Operating a Motor Vehicle without Insurance.
