The following incident occurred on Monday, August 9, 2021:
OWI 7th Offense Arrest:
At approximately 12:56 p.m., Deputies responded to the W7900 block of STH 81 in the Town of Jordan for a report of a vehicle that had almost collided with multiple vehicles. Deputies located the vehicle and observed it operate left of center. Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, however the vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated. During the pursuit, the vehicle lost control while negotiating a curve in the roadway. The vehicle then entered the ditch and overturned. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Paul M. Elsner, 60, New Glarus, WI. The vehicle sustained disabling damage in the crash and the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed from the scene. Elsner sustained non-life threatening injuries in the crash and he reported that he was wearing his seatbelt. Elsner was transported by New Glarus EMS to the Monroe Clinic Emergency Room due to injuries sustained in the crash.
Investigation resulted in Elsner being arrested for Operate While under the Influence (alcohol) 7th Offense, Fleeing an Officer, and Felony Bail Jumping. Elsner was cited for Operate Left of Center, Passing in a No Passing Zone, Failure to Keep Vehicle under Control, Possession of Open Intoxicants in a Motor Vehicle, Operate After Revocation, and Failure to Install an Ignition Interlock Device.
Elsner was incarcerated in the Green County Jail pending an initial court appearance.
