2026 Sheriff's Office Press Releases Posted on January 15, 2026

The following events occurred on January 14, 2025:

All person’s arrested or cited are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.


Motor Vehicle Crash - Personal Injury


At 6:49 am, Deputies, along with Belleville EMS and Fire Department, responded to a rollover crash in the W4300 block of CTH W, Town of Exeter. Nicholas B Massei, 17, Brooklyn, was westbound when he lost control on the icy roadway.  Massei's vehicle left the north side of the roadway where it overturned and struck a utility pole.  Massei reported wearing his seatbelt, having non-life threatening injuries, and was transported by EMS.  The vehicle sustained disabling damage with no airbag deployment, and was towed from the scene.  Massei was cited for Too Fast for Conditions, and was released with a court date.  Alliant Energy and Green County Highway Department assisted at the scene.


Motor Vehicle Crash - Property Damage


At 7:09 am, Deputies responded to the N100 block of STH 69, Town of Clarno, for a report of a vehicle in the ditch.  Deputies' investigation determined that the driver, Gerson N. Torres-Duarte, 23, of IL, lost control of his vehicle on the icy roadway.  Torres-Duarte’s vehicle entered the east ditch and struck a highway sign.  The vehicle had disabling damage with no airbag deployment.  Gerson reported wearing his seatbelt and being uninjured.  


Motor Vehicle Crash - Personal Injury


At 7:32 am, Deputies, Green County EMS, and Monroe Rural Fire Department, responded to the N1000 block of STH 69, Town of Clarno, for a single vehicle rollover crash.  The driver, Jessica L. Beightol, 42, of IL, was traveling northbound on STH 69, when she lost control of her vehicle on the icy roadway.  The vehicle entered the west ditch and overturned coming to rest back upright.  Beightol reported having non-life threatening injuries, wearing her seatbelt, and was transported by EMS.  The vehicle sustained disabling damage with no airbag deployment and was towed from the scene.  


Motor Vehicle Crash - Personal Injury


At 7:48 am, Deputies, Green County EMS, Browntown Fire, Green County Highway Department, and Monroe Rural Fire Department, responded to the W7800 block of STH 11, Town of Cadiz for a one vehicle crash.  The driver Caroline R. Bauer, 18, of Monroe, was traveling westbound when she lost control of her vehicle on the icy roadway.  The vehicle crossed the centerline, entered the ditch, and came to rest.  Bauer reported having non-life threatening injuries, wearing her seatbelt, and was transported by EMS.  The vehicle sustained minor damage and was left on scene for removal at a later date.
