As of Tuesday, November 25 investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are on scene conducting their investigation. The Sheriff’s Office detective bureau remains active in assisting on scene. The Sheriff’s Office has been able to determine preliminary information that the fixed wing airplane was inbound to land at the Monroe Municipal Airport. Prior to landing, the plane crashed in the gravel quarry on the northside of State Hwy 59 immediately adjacent to the Monroe Municipal Airport. The individuals deceased on scene have been identified as being within the plane at the time of the crash. One individual was identified as a 43 year old male from Oshkosh, WI. The other individual was identified as a 41 year old male from Omro, WI.
Our condolences and thoughts are with the grieving families. It is expected that there will be no further releases related to this incident from the Sheriff’s Office.
