All persons arrested or cited are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The following incident occurred on Saturday, January 06, 2024:
Motor Vehicle Crash –
At approximately 7:54 AM, Deputies responded to the N5500 blk of STH 69, Town of Washington, for a report of a vehicle in the ditch. Deputies met with the operator and sole occupant, Charles E. Jaeger, 25 of Monroe, who advised he was traveling south on STH 69 when he lost control negotiating a left curve in the roadway and entered the ditch. Charles was not injured, was wearing his seatbelt and there was no airbag deployment. There was minor rear bumper damage and an unknown mechanical failure of the vehicle not allowing it to start. The vehicle was left in the ditch to be removed at a later time.
OWI Arrest –
At approximately 11:36 PM, Carlos Aguirre Avendano, 25, of Monroe, was stopped for speeding in the N5300 block of STH 69, in the Town of Washington. The investigation resulted in Carlos being placed under arrest for Operating While under the Influence – 1st Offense. Carlos was additionally cited for speeding and Operating with a Prohibited Alcohol Concentration. Carlos was later released to a responsible party pending a mandatory court date.
Substantial Battery Arrest –
At approximately 2:03 AM, Deputies responded to N2471 Vanmatre Ln., in the Town of Clarno, for a reported assault. The investigation resulted in Carson L. Sangermano, 18, of Brodhead, being placed under arrest for Substantial Battery and Disorderly Conduct. Sangermano was later incarcerated at the Green County Jail pending an initial court appearance. MNPD and BHPD assisted Deputies throughout the investigation.
