2023 Sheriff's Department Press Releases Posted on March 26, 2023

The following events occurred on March 25, 2023:

All person’s arrested or cited are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH-PROPERTY DAMAGE:

 

At 3:40 a.m., Deputies responded to the N1900 block of State Highway 69, in the Town of Clarno, for the report of a single vehicle roll over with no injuries. Investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by Santos Tinoco, 51 of Monroe, was traveling southbound when he lost control of his vehicle due to snowy road conditions. The vehicle entered the east ditch and overturned. Tinoco reported no injuries, was wearing his seatbelt, and the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle sustained functional damage and was towed from the scene.

 

MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH-PROPERTY DAMAGE:

 

At 5:58 a.m., Deputies responded to the W6300 block of State Highway 39, in the Town of New Glarus, for the report of a single vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by Morgan E. Runass, 20 of Evansville, was traveling eastbound when she lost control due to the snowy road conditions. The vehicle then entered the ditch and came to rest. Runass reported no injuries, was wearing her seatbelt, and the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle sustained functional damage and was towed from the scene.

 

MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH-PROPERTY DAMAGE:

 

At 6:31 a.m., Deputies responded to the N4500 block of Park Road, in the Town of Decatur, for the report of a vehicle versus pole crash. Investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by Nicholas D. Hack, 24 of Brodhead, was traveling on Park Road when he lost control due to the snowy road conditions. The vehicle then entered the ditch and collided with a utility pole. Hack reported no injuries, was wearing his seatbelt, and the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle sustained functional damage and remained on scene. Investigation resulted in Hack being cited for Operating a Motor Vehicle After Revocation, Failure to Install Ignition Interlock Device, Failure of Operator to Notify Police of Accident, and Failure to Keep Vehicle Under Control.

 

MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH-PROPERTY DAMAGE:

 

At 8:48 a.m., Deputies responded to the W400 block of State Highway 59, in the Town of Albany, for the report of a single vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by Juan C. Gumeta-Perez, 55 of Monroe, was traveling eastbound when the vehicle left the roadway and entered the ditch, colliding with a fence. Gumeta-Perez reported no injuries, was wearing his seatbelt, and the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle sustained functional damage and remained on scene, Investigation resulted in Gumeta-Perez being cited for Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a Valid License.

 

MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH-PROPERTY DAMAGE:

 

At 1:59 p.m., Deputies responded to the W8700 block of County Highway B, in the Town of Cadiz, for the report of a single vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by Jonathan E. Castro-Mejia, 33 of Monroe, was traveling southbound on County Highway M, when he lost control due to the snowy road conditions and entered the south ditch of County Highway B. Castro-Mejia and his passenger reported no injuries, were wearing their seatbelts, and the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle sustained functional damage and was driven from the scene.

 

MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH-PROPERTY DAMAGE:

 

At 2:34 p.m., Deputies responded to the N2400 block of Bethel Road, in the Town of Clarno, for the report of a single vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that a vehicle operated by Courtney L. Hartwig, 17 of Monroe, was traveling eastbound when she lost control of the vehicle due to the snowy road conditions. The vehicle then entered the ditch and collided with a culvert. Hartwig reported no injuries, was wearing her seatbelt, and the airbags did deploy. The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.

 

OWI:

 

At 11:07 p.m., Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding in the W5600 block of County Highway C, in the Town of Washington. Investigation resulted in the operator, Kuenzi M. Aeberhard, 26 of Monticello being arrested for Operating While Under the Influence (Alcohol-1st). Aeberhard was further cited for Operating with a Prohibited Alcohol Concentration and Speeding. Aeberhard was released to a responsible party pending court.
