All persons arrested or cited are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The following incident occurred on Thursday, March 09, 2023:
Rollover Crash, No Injury –
On 03/09/2023 at approximately 4:54 PM, Deputies, the Monroe Rural Fire Department, and Green County EMS, responded to the W4900 blk of CTH KK, Town of Sylvester, for a report of a single vehicle rollover crash with unknown injuries. Investigation determined the operator, Kelcie Hess, 17, was operating east bound on CTH KK when she lost control of her vehicle on the slush covered roadway. Kelcie's vehicle entered the south ditch, over turning once and coming to a rest on it's roof. Kelcie and her passenger reported wearing their seatbelts and not being injured. There was no airbag deployment and the vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.
Motor Vehicle Crash –
At approximately 5:06 p.m., Deputies responded to the W7000 block of CTH H, Town of New Glarus, for a one vehicle accident with no injuries. Deputies spoke to the driver, Ethan Siegenthaler, 16, who reported traveling west bound when he began to negotiating a curve and lost control of the vehicle due to the snow covered roadway. Ethan departed the roadway, entered the north embankment, and collided with a fence where the vehicle came to a rest. Ethan reported wearing a seatbelt and was uninjured.
The vehicle sustained disabling damage, no air bag deployment, and would be towed at a later time due to the inclement weather.
Motor Vehicle Crash –
At approximately 6:22 PM, Deputies responded to the W7100 blk of STH 81, in the Town of Monroe, for a report of a vehicle in the ditch. Deputies arrived on scene and spoke with the driver, Jose Meregildo Velasquez Martinez, 40 of Darlington, who advised he lost control of the vehicle and entered the northern ditch. Jose advised he was not injured and was wearing his seatbelt. There was an unidentified passenger who also advised he was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured. The vehicle was removed from the ditch by a towing company. The vehicle sustained minor front-end damage. Jose was given a citation for driving without a license, and give a non-mandatory court date.
OWI Arrest –
At approximately 8:07 PM, Deputies responded to the N9300 block of STH 92, Town of Exeter, for a vehicle in the ditch. Deputies arrived on scene and spoke to the driver David FIsher, 53, of New Glarus, who advised he was uninjured and there was no damage to his vehicle. Further investigation resulted in David being arrested for OWI-Third Offense and was transported to MCER for a legal blood draw. Deputies transported David to the Green County Jail where he posted bond and was later released to a responsible party pending a future mandatory court appearance.
Motor Vehicle Crash –
At approximately 10:00 PM, Deputies responded to the N5000 block of STH 104, in the Town of Albany, for a report of a motor vehicle accident with no injuries. Deputies spoke with the reporting party and driver of the vehicle Korben E Brown, 19 of Brodhead. Korben advised he was traveling westbound on Rock Counties CTH B, slid through the intersection of STH 104, went into the ditch, and hit a tree. Korben reported wearing his seatbelt and was not injured. Korben's passenger, Lindsey N Waagen, 20 of Brodhead, also advised she was not injured and was wearing her seatbelt.
The vehicle sustained significant front-end damage and was left at the scene. Korben advised the truck would be removed in the morning.
Vehicles in the Ditch –
Deputies located, or responded, to 19 vehicles in the ditch throughout the duration of the snow storm.
