The following incidents occurred on Wednesday, February 16th, 2022:
Motor Vehicle Accident-Property Damage:
At approximately 10:49 AM, Deputies responded to the N600 block of County Highway T, Town of Spring Grove, for a single vehicle accident with no injuries reported.
The driver was identified as Leslie Gillespie, 77, of Durand (IL), who reported driving northbound on County Highway T when she failed to negotiate a curve and entered the North ditch.
Gillespie reported wearing her seatbelt, denied injury, and no airbag deployment. Gillespie’s vehicle sustained functional damage and was towed from the scene.
Motor Vehicle Accident- Personal Injury:
At approximately 11:52 AM, Deputies along with the Monroe Rural Fire Department and Green County EMS, responded to the State Highway 11/81 and State Highway 69 interchange area for a two-vehicle accident with injuries.
Investigations found that Madonna J Haight, 60, of Orangeville was waiting at the exit ramp to State Highway 11 when she attempted to turn South onto State Highway 69. Haight proceeded from the stop sign and then struck a northbound vehicle driven by Marcy L Potempa, 38, of Freeport.
Potempa’s passengers London X Ishmon, 21, of Freeport and another juvenile passenger sustained injuries during the crash. Ishmon and this juvenile passenger were transported to the Monroe Clinic Emergency Room for injuries sustained. Potempa and a second juvenile passenger were uninjured. Haight further reported no injuries.
Both Haight’s and Potempa’s vehicles sustained disabling damages and were towed from the scene. All parties reported wearing seatbelts. Air bags deployed inside both vehicles.
Crash remains under investigation.
