The following events occurred on September 17th, 2021:
All person’s arrested or cited are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Motor Vehicle Crash – Personal Injury:
At approximately 1:58 PM, Deputies, along with Monroe Rural Fire Dept. and Green County EMS, responded to the intersection of State HWY 81 and County HWY N, Town of Monroe, for a reported two vehicle crash.
Investigation revealed that a vehicle, operated by Thomas L Mowery, 62, Freeport, was westbound on State HWY 81, turning southbound onto County HWY N, when a westbound vehicle, operated by Megan C Johnson, 18, New Glarus, collided with the rear of Mowery’s vehicle. Mowery reported wearing his seatbelt and not being injured. His vehicle sustained minor damage with no airbag deployment and was driven from the scene. Johnson reported wearing her seatbelt and being injured. She was medically evaluated at the scene and released. Her vehicle sustained moderate damage with airbag deployment and was towed from the scene. Mowery was cited for improper left turn and was released pending court.
Motor Vehicle Crash – Personal Injury:
At approximately 3:35 PM, Deputies, along with Belleville Police Dept., Belleville Fire Dept., Bellville EMS, Fitch-Rona EMS, Mt. Horeb EMS, and New Glarus EMS, responded to a three-vehicle crash in the N9600 blk State HWY 69, Town of New Glarus.
Investigation revealed that a vehicle, operated by Jeffrey A Kempfer, 56, Monticello, was stopped facing northbound, waiting to turn westbound onto Peerless Rd., with a vehicle, operated by Santos Gonzales, 57, Monticello, stopped behind him. A third northbound vehicle, operated by Thomas C Tullis, 69, Monroe, was distracted and struck the rear of Gonazales’ vehicle, which then proceeded to collide with Kempfer’s vehicle.
Kempfer reported being injured and wearing his seatbelt. He was transported from the scene by ambulance for further medical evaluation. His vehicle sustained moderate damage with no airbag deployment and was driven from the scene. Gonzales reported wearing his seatbelt and being injured. His two passengers, Alicia Santiago Francisco, 41, Monticello, and Sandra Moralez, 15, Monroe, also reported wearing seatbelts and being injured. They were all transported from the scene by ambulance for further medical evaluation. Gonzales’ vehicle sustained severe damage with no airbag deployment and was towed from the scene. Tullis reported not wearing his seatbelt and being injured. His passenger, Shirley A Tullis, 63, Monroe, reported wearing her seatbelt and being injured. They were both transported from the scene by ambulance for further medical treatment. His vehicle was towed from the scene. Thomas Tullis was cited for inattentive driving and failure to wear seatbelt and was released pending court.
