Accident- PD
At 9:28 am, Deputies responded to the intersection of STH 69 & W Coates Ave., Village of Monticello, for a motor vehicle crash. An investigation revealed that a Semi unit operated by Donald P. Deckard, 84, of Crane Hill, AL was stopped at the stop sign at the intersection when he began to make a backing maneuver in the roadway. The semi struck a vehicle that was stopped behind it, operated by Amy J. Lehr, 58, of rural Monticello. All parties involved reported not being injured, wearing their seatbelts, and no airbag deployment. The vehicles sustained minor damages and were driven from the scene. Deckard was verbally warned for unsafe backing and released.
