On February 5, the Sheriffs Office Detective Division assisted by deputies and agents of the WI Department of Justice - Division of Criminal Investigation executed a residential search warrant in the N2800 block of County Hwy GG, in the Town of Spring Grove.  The search warrant stemmed from an investigation of Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC)

The investigation started with a cyber-tip through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).   Investigation into the cyber-tip identified additional reports of child sexual abuse material, commonly referred to as child pornography.  As a result of the investigation Garrett L. McKnight, 25, of Brodhead was arrested at his place of employment in Janesville with the assistance of DCI Agents.   Further investigation by Detectives resulted in a second residential search warrant being executed in the 1100 block of 17th Street, City of Brodhead.  

On February 10, McKnight was formally charged in Green County Circuit Court with (2) counts of Possession of Child Pornography, a Class D Felony.  He was held on a $20,000.00 cash bond.  Additionally McKnight had charges filed in Rock County Circuit Court stemming from the investigation for (2) counts of Child Sexual Exploitation, a Class C Felony.   At the time of this release McKnight remains in custody at the Green County Jail.

The Green County Sheriff’s Office remains aggressive in its efforts to investigate and arrest individuals that are involved in these activities.  These are serious crimes that deeply impact victims, families and our community.
