MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH-FATAL:

 At 10:03 p.m., The Green County Sheriff’s Office received the report of a three vehicle crash at the intersection of State Highway 81 and County Highway N in the Town of Monroe. Deputies along with Monroe Police Department, Monroe Rural Fire Department, City of Monroe Fire Department, Green County EMS, and the Wisconsin State Patrol were dispatched to the scene.

Initial investigation revealed that a Blue 2014 Ford Focus with four occupants was traveling northbound on CTH N and failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of State Highway 81 and County Highway N.  This vehicle then collided with a White 2001 GMC Pickup with four occupants that had been traveling eastbound on STH 81. The impact caused the pickup to collide with a Gray 2013 Subaru sedan that had been traveling westbound on STH 81 which had a lone occupant. All vehicles sustained severe disabling damage and airbag deployments. The vehicles were towed from the scene. The operator and occupants of the GMC Pickup and Ford Sedan had been properly restrained and sustained injuries in which treatment was sought. 

The driver of the Subaru, a Marshfield man was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Green County Coroner’s Office. At this time, the identity of the driver is withheld pending notification to family. The highway remained closed for approximately 6 hours. The crash, which is Green County's fourth traffic fatality in 2023, remains under investigation.
