The following incident occurred on Saturday, July 08, 2023:
Motorcycle Crash with Injury – At this time, names will not be released.
At approximately 12:36 p.m., Deputies along with New Glarus EMS, New Glarus Fire, New Glarus PD, Monticello First Response, Belleville EMS, and UW Med Flight responded to the N8000 block of STH 69, Town of New Glarus, for a report of a crash involving two motorcycles.
Investigation found that a motorcycle was operating southbound on STH 69 when the operator abruptly attempted to turn left into the brewery driveway. A second motorcycle was following the first and struck the side of the motorcycle.
The second driver sustained a severe injury and was transported by ambulance for medical care. The first driver sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported via med flight for medical care. Both operators were not wearing helmets and were wearing eye protection.
Motor Vehicle Crash –
At approximately 6:35 p.m., Deputies responded to W6400 Melvin Rd., in the Town of Clarno, for a report of a vehicle up against a tree with nobody around. Deputies arrived and observed that the driver had fled the scene. Shortly after, the registered owner of the vehicle, Zachary Noone, 22 of Freeport IL, called to report that he had crashed his vehicle. Zachary reported that he had a friend to had picked him up from the scene. Zachary reported wearing his seatbelt, was not injured, and he had a tow truck coming in the morning to remove the vehicle. Zachary was cited for Failure to maintain Control of his vehicle.
Motor Vehicle Crash –
At approximately 8:07 PM, Deputies responded to the N7600 block of CTH N, Town of New Glarus, for a vehicle versus pole crash with no injuries. Deputies arrived on scene and spoke to the driver, Michael Miling, 38, of New Glarus, who advised he was traveling southbound when his vehicle entered the west gravel shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle entered the ditch where it collided with a power pole coming to a rest. Michael reported he and his passenger, Lucas Miling, 6, were wearing their safety belts and were uninjured. Michael's vehicle sustained disabling damage, airbag deployment, and was towed from the scene.
Michael received a verbal warning for failure to maintain control of a vehicle and was released. Alliant energy responded to the scene a restored power to the neighboring residences.
Warrant Arrest –
At approximately 7:10 PM, Deputies were requested to assist the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office with an active burglary in the 1800 Lacey Rd., South Wayne. Upon Deputies arrival it was determined the suspected offender, John W. Thompson Jr., 44 of Browntown, had a right to be in the home and it was a misunderstanding. It was then learned that John had an active body only warrant through MNPD for Failure to Appear, Retail Theft, and Bail Jumping. John was subsequently arrested and transported to the Green County Jail where he will be held until his initial court appearance.
Disorderly Conduct –
At approximately 8:47 PM Deputies and Belleville PD responded to N8922 Hughes Rd in the Town of Exeter for the report of an argument between neighbors. Investigation resulted in Tricia A. Bochte, 39, of Belleville receiving citations for Dog Running at Large - 1st offense, and Disorderly Conduct.
