All persons arrested or cited are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The following incident occurred on Sunday, September 18, 2022:
Motor Vehicle Crash –
At approximately 12:33 PM, Deputies and the Brodhead Police Department, responded to the W1000 block of State Highway 11, Town of Spring Grove, for a report of a one-vehicle crash. The vehicle was also reportedly still in the roadway.
Investigation determined the operator, Gabriel M. Garcia, 18 of Whitewater, was traveling east on State Highway 11 when he fell asleep. The vehicle traveled across the roadway into the north ditch, striking a mailbox and then re-entered the roadway coming to a rest in the east bound lane.
Gabriel and his passenger were not injured and reported wearing their seatbelts. The vehicle sustained moderate damage, there was no airbag deployment and it was towed from the scene. Gabriel was issued a citation for Inattentive Driving and was released with a future court date.
Motorcycle Crash/OWI Arrest –
On 09/18/2022 at approximately 6:00 PM, Deputies, Belleville EMS and the Green County K-9, responded to the W4500 blk of CTH W, Town of Exeter for a report of a motorcycle crash. It was also reported that the operator, later identified as Dean R. Krychowiak, 46 of Monticello, had fled on foot into a nearby cornfield. Dean eventually exited the corn field and was taken into custody for Operating While Under the Influence of Alcohol - 3rd Offense.
Investigation and a witness statement determined Dean was traveling west on CTH W when his motorcycle entered the gravel shoulder of the roadway. The motorcycle then fishtailed and fell over on it's side and slid down an embankment, coming to a rest in the north ditch. Dean was not wearing a helmet and was evaluated by Belleville EMS for non-life threatening injuries on scene. The motorcycle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.
Dean was housed at the Green County Jail pending his initial court appearance or posting of his bond. Dean was also issued a citation for Driving too Fast for Conditions.
